I love to read! This is so much easier to do during the summer when I can actually read for fun. I'm not sure why (actually that's not true, I do know why) but I just can't get the balance quite right during the school year. Therefore, my summer to do list includes reading lots of books that I've been waiting for a chance to read. As I looked through my list I realized that I actually have a variety of genres represented, which is awesome since this is what I encourage my kids to do each year. I love when I am able to practice what I preach. Do you have a way that you encourage your students to read a variety of genres? For the past three years we have had a BINGO sheet that I have used with my students. Below you will see a link to the pages that I use with my kids. (Sadly, I still can't link things quite right so I am going to send you to my classroom website.) Please feel free to use or tweak these resources if you find them helpful.
Your website is stinkin' cute! I downloaded everything I could. I love your genre bingo because it has an accountability piece. Very nice! I also snagged that BIG FOX organizer. I have used the genre board in the past, but have had trouble motivating my students. I think I need to talk it up more and maybe give some incentives along the way. I also have plans this summer to put together some genre projects. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!
